a qoute for your weekend

Nothing much is going on here this weekend. Austin is back at home, and I'm here in my dorm-watching sappy Lifetime movies, eating pretzels and peanut butter, trying to decide whether or not to go back to sleep. Ah, the weekends...full of bliss! So anyway, I'm going to leave you with a little quote from author Emily Giffin (of Love the One You're With) that has really brought me some encouragement today:

“maybe that's what it all comes down to. love, not as a surge of passion, but as a choice to commit to something, someone, no matter what obstacles or temptations stand in the way. and maybe making that choice, again and again, day in and day out, year after year, says more about love than never having a choice to make at all.”

we went on a date

First and foremost, I'd like to say that no, there are no pictures of Austin and I on our date. I know. I'm terrible. It's just, it's kind of awkward carrying around my big DSLR and being like, "Hey, Aust! Smile, these pictures are for the blog!" in the middle of Applebee's. These type of cameras aren't very good for doing the whole "here let me turn my camera around and take a disproportion-ed picture of my face." You know what I mean? Maybe it's just me. I just feel awkward doing that. I feel awkward most of the time. Sometimes it's a good awkward, but other times it's just an embarrassing awkward. That's was a lot of awkward right there in that sentence. Moving on.

Our date started out here:

I had their amazing chicken tender basket (I know, I'm 12), and Austin had this grilled chicken penne thing-a-ma-gig. It was gooood stuff, people. But our waitress was so. freaking. slow. Not even funny. So we waited about a half hour after our meal just to get our check and get outta there. Next, we headed to PetSmart. *sidenote: is anyone else confused about how to pronounce that? Like, is it "Pets Mart" or "Pet Smart." I'm thinkin' Pets Mart, because I don't know why anyone would wanna pet smart. Whatevs. I'm probably just dumb. Moving on.*

They had these little cuties that you could adopt. When Austin and I get married and have our own place and such, we're buying one from here. Promise.

Speaking of cats...at one point, I looked over at Austin and I was like, "Aww! Look at this one over here! Hurry!" and he goes "Hang on! I'm making new friends!" That man. Love him.

I am definitely a dog person, but the deal is, we can't have a dog unless we get a cat, too. Bummer. But, at least they're kinda cute. And Austin said that they make some that don't shed very much. (I act like it's a toy or something. Obviously not a cat person. Don't hurt me!)

We ended our night with this:

It was a good date, my friends. And did I mention it rained the whole day? No? Well, it did. It rained the.whole.entire.day.

not much

You're probably looking at this bright and happy photo thinking, "Weren't you just talking about how much you loved November and can't wait for the snow, etc...? Well yes, I was. However, today was a I just wanna stay in bed all day and not move kinda day, so I didn't get out and take pictures like I had planned.

Anywho...This photo was actually taken just a couple weeks ago. It had just got done raining, and all of the flowers around this one were really dreary and droopy, but this little lovely was very much alive! I thought it was kinda strange and yet super beautiful all at the same time.

I'm beginning to plan for the weekend, which I thought would be super laid back and relaxing. Wrongo. (sad face). I'll be working on a bunch of homework and studying for tests and all of that good stuff, so I can get me a good eduCATION. (I just said all of that in a terrible hillbilly accent. Try it yourself. I dare ya).

Anything fun happening this weekend for ya'll?

happy november!

Can you believe that it's already NOVEMBER? I seriously can't. But it makes my heart happy, because November means that it's starting to get colder (yay!) and that we're getting closer to Christmas! Here's a list of what I'm lookin' forward to in November:

  • Registering for classes. Tonight. At 8:48pm. (so specific are these college advisers!)
  • Thanksgiving. what kind of person would I be if I didn't add that? But seriously, I love this holiday. It combines my two favorite things: family + food. Who wouldn't be happy?
  • Pumpkin pie. Need I say more?
  • An increase in the probability of snow!
  • Black Friday. I know some people avoid this "holiday" at all costs, but it's a favorite for my mom and sisters and me. We get up super early, and then around 10am, we go to the mall and eat lunch, and maybe make a visit to Starbucks!
  • Our family tradition of driving around downtown at night after we eat our big Thanksgiving meal.
  • Putting up the Christmas tree and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

What are you looking forward to this month?
